JOHOR BAHRU – Police found a laboratory to turn out ecstacy pills, seized drugs worth RM8.1 million and nabbed six local men in raids at five separate locations here on Friday and Saturday.
Bukit Aman Narcotic CID chief Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the raids and arrest of the six were conducted from 3.20 pm until 12.20 am (Jan 8, 9).
“Police uncovered the laboratory in the first raid at a house in Taman Sri Pelangi here and detained two men. The laboratory is believed to have been operating in the last four months,” he told reporters here, today.
He said police also seized 58 kg of powder suspected to be ecstasy, 5,290 pills suspected to be ecstacy, a kilogramme of drug suspected to be syabu, two kilogrammes of chemical powder, a bottle of chemical, equipment to process ecstacy, four airguns, two air pistols and two bullets at the house.
Mohd Mokhtar said four other men were arrested in follow-ups in Taman Sutera, Taman Century, Bandar Permas Jaya and Taman Daya, here.
According to Mohd Mokhtar, police also seized items worth RM390,140 including a Ducati and a Kawasaki motorcycle, a Mazda, Proton Suprima S and Iswara and cash RM5,140.
He said two of the suspects, aged 37 to 45 years, had crime records while five were positive on drugs.
They were remanded until Friday for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added. – BERNAMA
