MIRI – Police arrested three suspects following a raid at a cyber gambling outlet on the first floor of a shoplot in Jalan Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat, Marudi at 8pm yesterday.
Sarawak CID chief, Datuk S.S. Dev Kumar said those arrested were local men, aged 30 and 49, who were customers of the outlet while the woman, a 30-year-old Indonesian, was the caretaker of the outlet.
“Her social visit pass has expired and she does not have a work permit,” he said in a statement, here, today.
Dev Kumar said 16 computers used for cyber gambling, WiFi peripherals and RM1,250 in cash were seized by police during the raid.
“The case is being investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act and Immigration Act,” he said, adding that all district CIDs had been ordered to ensure that cyber gambling did not rear its ugly head in Sarawak. – BERNAMA
