ALOR GAJAH – Police are hunting down three men in connection with an armed robbery involving losses of about RM20,000 at a telecommunication shop in Kuala Sungai Baru, Masjid Tanah here last night.
Alor Gajah district police chief Supt A. Asmadi Abd Aziz said in the 12pm incident, the suspects believed to be in their 20s and 30s went to the shop and pretended to be customers who wanted to buy a power bank.
“There were no customers at the time of the incident and only two female workers in their 20s were on duty. One of the suspects pointed a machete at one of the workers and ordered her to squat down.
“The three suspects then ransacked the premises and took 29 mobile phones of various brands, RM1,000 in cash and sim cards before fleeing the scene in a black Perodua Viva car,” he told a press conference here today.
In another development, A. Asmadi said seven people, including a woman were detained for possessing drugs in four raids around the district carried out from Nov 9 until last Sunday.
Meanwhile, he said police had arrested a construction site supervisor who was in possession of an air rifle and a small container containing 55 tin bullets at his house in Jalan Ramuan Cina Besar, Masjid Tanah at 12.45am today. – BERNAMA
