ALOR GAJAH – Two men on the ‘wanted list’ were killed in a shootout with the police near Taman Sri Bayan in Durian Tunggal here this afternoon.
The fugitives, one of whom was an Indonesian, were cruising in a Mercedes–Benz car when a Special Task Force team from Bukit Aman spotted them and ordered the driver of the vehicle to pull over.
However, one of the men fired several shots in the direction of the policemen who returned fire, killing them on the spot in the 12.54pm incident.
Alor Gajah police chief Supt A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said initial investigations revealed that prior to the shootout, the local man and his Indonesian accomplice had planned to commit a robbery in Cheng.
He said a Norinco pistol loaded with three bullets and a bullet shell were found at the scene of the shooting.
The deceased were linked to eight armed robberies, namely two each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor as well as four in Selangor. – BERNAMA
