IPOH – Police had detained a suspect who was believed to have involved in an armed robbery attempt of a furniture shop in Jalan Besar, Jelapang, here, Friday.
The 33-year-old man, who possessed 13 criminal records including in drugs related cases, was arrested with the help of a member of the public during the 2.30pm incident.
Ipoh deputy police chief, Supt Mohd Nor Rasid said, the suspect’s accomplice however managed to flee with some amount of money from the shop on a motorbike.
He said in the incident a 50-year-old female staff of the shop also suffered injuries on her head after she was beaten with the back of a machette by one of the suspects.
Mohd Nor said, the victim, a Bangladeshi national who suffered injuries on her head had been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital and was reported stable.
He said the police had also seized the suspect’s Honda EX5 motorcycle which used a fake number plate and RM655 in cash and that the suspect would be remanded tomorrow. – BERNAMA
