KOTA KINABALU – Police arrested a man and seized two homemade weapons in a raid on a house in Kampung Kiaburi, Ranau, near here recently.
Kota Kinabalu City Police Chief, ACP M. Chandra said the 25-year-old man was arrested last Sunday, following public information received on Sept 29 regarding the case.
“The report received stated a man had left a package containing two homemade guns, an iron rod and a white jacket,” he said in a statement, today.
He said the urine test on the suspect showed positive of drugs and initial investigation revealed that the suspect had three previous criminal records, including related to drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 32 of the Firearms Act 1960.
Meanwhile, Chandra advised those who had homemade weapons to hand them over to the nearest police station as it was a criminal offence.
“Members of the public are also advised to make a police report if they came across or have information relating to homemade weapons because they pose serious danger to the public,” he said. – BERNAMA
