KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s instruction to the Auditor General to undertake an independent audit of IMalaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) shows the government’s firmness in ensuring transparency in all undertakings of the company.
The Malay Traders and Industrialists Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) President Datuk Moehamad Izat Emir said the organisation fully supported the move by the prime minister.
“The allegations levelled against the company and without checking, has created a wrong perception of it in the eyes of the public,” he added in a statement here Friday.
According to Moehamad Izat, 1MDB had planned for a number of mega projects which would help enhance the development of the country in the future and provide good returns on investments.
“1MDB needs to be given an opportunity to continue with its planned developments,” he added. – Bernama
