PM On Working Visit To Jakarta From 1-st To 3-rd August

PUTRAJAYA – YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will undertake a working visit
to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia on 1 to 3 August 2016. The visit is in
conjunction with the 11th Annual Consultation between the Prime Minister of
Malaysia and the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and the 12th World
Islamic Economic Forum (12th WIEF). The Annual Consultation will be held on
1 August 2016 whilst the 12th WIEF will take place on 2 to 4 August
2016. YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YABhg. Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor,
cabinet ministers and government officials from the relevant ministries and

The 11th Annual Consultation will mark the first meeting between YAB Prime
Minister and H.E President Joko Widodo under the annual consultation framework.
Both leaders will discuss bilateral issues of mutual interest and explore new
areas of cooperation. The two leaders will also witness the signing of the
Bilateral Agreement between Bank Negara Malaysia and Otoritas Jasa Keuwangan
Indonesia under the ASEAN Banking Integration Framework (ABIF), as well as the
Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Council of
Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) on the Secretariat of CPOPC [1]. The last
annual consultation was held in Jakarta on 19 December 2013, prior to H.E
President Joko Widodo’s presidency.

The 11th Annual Consultation reflects the strong commitment of both countries to
further deepen the long-standing and close bilateral relations between Malaysia
and Indonesia. Indonesia is Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner and the 3rd
largest among ASEAN countries. Total bilateral trade between the two countries
stood at RM60.16 billion (USD15.25 billion) in 2015. Bilateral trade in 2014 was
recorded at RM59.5 billion (USD18.3 billion).

Following the 11th Annual Consultation, YAB Prime Minister will participate at
the 12th WIEF, with the theme – “Decentralizing Growth, Empowering Business”.
The Forum acknowledges the role of small and medium businesses in driving
economic growth in national economies around the world, away from the previous
dominance of big multinationals, which represent only a small portion of the
business community of any particular country. The Forum will also provide a
platform for participants to pool their ideas, especially on ways to implement
the innovative partnerships and provide opportunities for future cooperation in
various sectors.

Leaders from several countries, including Tajikistan, Guinea and Sri Lanka will
be attending the Forum. This year’s Forum is expected to be the biggest Forum
with more than 2500 participants.

YAB Prime Minister, as Patron of WIEF will deliver a Special Address during the
Opening Session on 2 August 2016. He is expected to hold bilateral meetings
with his counterparts during the Forum to discuss bilateral, regional and
international issues of mutual interest.

YAB Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend a few events at the margins of
the Forum such as the soft launching of the Global Entrepreneurship Community
(GECommunity) by Ministry of Finance, Malaysia. He will also witness the
Exchange of MoUs and Agreements between Malaysian and international companies.
