SINGAPURA – Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is happy that its Malay citizens are fully involved in the government’s efforts to build the country and prepare for the future.
“This commitment will drive us to progress and overcome the challenges together as a united society,” he said in his National Day Rally 2017 speech in Malay, here, yesterday.
He said this was what Singapore’s first president Yusof Ishak envisioned 50 years ago.
“If he is still with us today, he will be happy to see how much progress we have made,” he said.
Lee said Singapore would soon have another credible Malay president if everything went well.
