KAJANG – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today attended funeral prayers for the late Datuk Azlin Alias, who was his principal private secretary, at Surau Saujana Impian, here.
The funeral prayers were held after the Zohor prayers was led by Chief Imam of Masjid Putra, Abdul Manaf Mat.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and several cabinet ministers also joined the prayers.
Funeral prayers were also held earlier for Azlin at his home in Saujana Impian, about a kilometre from the surau.
Azlin, 48, started working for Najib in 2008 when the latter was still deputy prime minister.
Azlin, along with five others, were killed in the AS3655N2 Dauphin (9M-1GB) helicopter crash in Jalan Sungai Lalang, Kampung Pasir Baru, Semenyih, near here, 4.55pm yesterday.
The burial was held at the Batu 13 Muslim Cemetery, Jalan Cheras.
Azlin was appointed as Najib’s pricipal private secretary on March 10 last year, replacing Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Kassim.
He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and was the director of the economic division and was also the Prime Minister’s Special Officer.
He is survived by Datin Azlina Mahmad, 48 two sons, Amir Ashraf, 22, Amirul Akmal, 19 and a daughter, Aisha Maryam 14.
Besides Azlin, those on board were the pilot Captain Clifford William Fournier; Operation Assistant Aidana Baizieva; Rompin member of parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis; Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Razakan B Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang. – BERNAMA
