GEORGE TOWN: The PKR leaders are smarter than the chief minister as they successfully thwarted the desire of Lim Guan Eng to hold a snap state election, said a Barisan Nasional assemblyman.
“Apparently, Pakatan is never united in making major decisions,” he said in reference to PKR’s stand against the proposed snap election in Penang.
Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad also said that Barisan assemblymen were not under Lim’s command, unlike Pakatan assemblymen.
“The Chief Minister should not try to be smart and tell Barisan assemblymen to do this and that. If he wants, he can ask the backbenchers to table a motion for a vote of confidence for him to remain as CM.
“We, the Barisan Nasional assemblymen, will discuss this matter in depth and state Opposition leader (Datuk Jahara Hamid) will make a statement when she returns from abroad,” he added.
Meanwhile, Penang Barisan Nasional chairman Teng Chang Yeow said Lim had always portrayed DAP as the dominant force in Pakatan.
“As a matter of fact, we have always believed that DAP is a ‘butler’ in the coalition. DAP creates the perception that it has power but in reality, the party has no real power,” he claimed yesterday.
Teng said the snap polls episode was proof that DAP had to bow to PKR despite having the most state seats in Penang, adding that DAP leaders have now revealed to the public that they were never consulted on the Kajang Move of PKR and the replacement of its Selangor mentri besar.
“The party was also not consulted by (then ally) PAS over its intention to table the Bill on hudud laws. These were all done despite DAP having the most seats in Pakatan! So, who is subservient to who?
“DAP is subservient to its allies, PKR and before that PAS,” he said.
