IPOH – PKNP FC will feature in the Malaysian Super League 2018 season after receiving an official offer from Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) on Monday, said Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) chairman Datuk Aminuddin Md Desa.
Aminuddin was grateful to FMLLP and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for giving PKNP FC the opportunity to compete in the Super League.
“After due consideration, PKNP FC would like to announce that we accept the offer to compete in the 2018 Super League,” he said in a statement here, today.
On Dec 3, FMLLP announced that PKNP FC and Negeri Sembilan would feature in the Super League, replacing Felda United and T-Team who were relegated to the Premier League next season.
Felda United were dropped as they did not possess a Super League licence while T-Team gave up the Super League spot after the Terengganu Football Association restructured the state’s football team.
Aminuddin said PKNP FC were proud to be joining the Super League after an impressive season where they finished third in the Premier League and qualified for the quarter-finals in the Malaysia Cup and FA Cup.
“Joining the Super League next season is good experience and will give a chance to the younger players to show their prowess, and maybe one day represent the country.
“PKNP FC will continue to maintain the objective to achieve success in all the competitions we participate,” he added.
Meanwhile, PKNP FC captain Muhammad Shahrel Fikri Mohd Fauzi said the team would have to double their efforts to compete with giants such as Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Kedah, Selangor and Perak.
“Although we are newcomers, it does not mean that we will be the whipping boys,” he added.
Muhammad Shahrel, who is also a national team player, expressed his appreciation to the management and supporters for inspiring PKNP FC to get into the country’s top league. – BERNAMA
