Pilgrim On His Way To Haj Dies At KLIA

KUALA LUMPUR – A pilgrim from Kuala Nerang, Kedah who was on his way to perform the haj died at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today due to complications from high blood pressure.

Lembaga Tabung Haji in a statement said the late Kamarulzaman Masaod Zainal, 53, reportedly fell ill at KLIA after arriving from Alor Setar on flight KT9K at 12.55am.

However, after being rushed to the Putrajaya Hospital, he was pronounced dead at 6.45am today.

According to the statement, the deceased and his wife Siti Minah Md Lazim, 49, were scheduled to leave for the holy land on flight KT9 from KLIA to Madinah at 5am this morning.

His remains, accompanied by his wife and siblings was sent to his hometown and later buried at the Kampung Titi Gajah Muslim Cemetery.

Tabung Haji group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Johan Abdullah told the wife of the deceased that they would perform the Haj on behalf of her husband this year and assist in his burial. – BERNAMA
