KUALA NERUS – The Philippines contingent emerged as the overall champion in the veteran category of the ‘Beautiful Terengganu’ International Judo Championships 2017 held at the Gong Badak Sports Complex, here.
The Philippines contingent won four gold, three silver and five bronze medals while Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail (SSTMI), Johor finished second in the two-day competition which ended yesterday with three gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
Host Terengganu managed third place with two gold, three silver and seven bronze.
In the Junior category, Terengganu emerged victorious with five gold, four silver and three bronze, followed by Penang with one gold, two silver, two bronze while Japan and the Philippines shared third spot with one gold medal each.
A total of 248 judo exponents from 17 local and foreign contingents, including from the Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Japan and Singapore, took part in the championships. – BERNAMA
