KOTA SAMARAHAN: Petronas is expected to brief the state government on the current status of its employees in Sarawak.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas (pic) expects Petronas to brief the state government about the status of its employees who intend to work in the state.
“The state government has decided to enforce a moratorium on application for work permits involving Petronas personnel (non Sarawakian) who wished to work in the state. We are waiting for a briefing on the current status of employment in Petronas Sarawak,” he told reporters here Monday.
Yesterday, Uggah told local daily ‘The Borneo Post’ that the state government will enforce a moratorium with immediate effect on all new applications for work permits of Petronas personnel from outside Sarawak.
Uggah was quoted as saying the state government’s decision was prompted by complaints from Sarawakian Petronas officers whose services were terminated or retrenched. – Bernama
