KUALA LUMPUR – Acknowledging the effectiveness of technology, the Malaysian Taxi, Limousine and Rented Car Drivers and Operators Association (Petekma) has proposed developing its own mobile phone application to offer its service.
Petekma president, Mohd Syahrir Abdul Aziz said through the application, passengers would be able book taxi easily.
“In my view, this is better as taxi operators will be developing the application themselves. Let us handle it ourselves. We do not want a third party,” he told Bernama after appearing as a guest in Ruang Bicara over Bernama News Channel (BNC) here tonight.
According to him, the proposal had been submitted to the government via the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) recently.
“This is what we are seeking (to develop our own application). For the time being, I am have yet to receive any response. But I hope the government will act quickly on the matter,” he said.
Currently, he is also planning to meet Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook soon.
“I will try to meet him next week. At least a dialogue with him so that a quick decision could be made,” he said. – BERNAMA
