“I just met with the Permatang Pauh PAS president (Omar Hasan) who pledged support and cooperation to ensure victory for the PKR candidate,” he told told reporters after a press conference by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng here, today.
Wan Azizah, who also attended the press conference, said this when asked about newspaper reports that PAS would not support PKR in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election.
Newspaper reports today quoted Permatang Pauh PAS information chief Jamsari Samad as saying that PKR may face a silent protest from PAS voters if PKR names Wan Azizah or her family member as the candidate for the by-election.
The Permatang Pauh by-election is held after Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was disqualified as the Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament.
It followed the Pardon Board’s decision to reject the petition filed by Anwar’s family members.
Anwar is serving a five years’ jail sentence for sodomising his former personal aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
