Permata Conference To Outline Kis’s Empowerment

PUTRAJAYA – The upcoming three-day Permata International Conference 2016 that begins on May 31 is set to outline a better future for the children in a world full of challenges.

With the theme “Children Beyond Tomorrow”, the conference to be held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, will look into the avenues to enable children lead a meaningful life and in growing up into persons of high moral value and integrity.

Permata’s patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor highlighted at a press conference on Thursday that the theme clearly reflected Permata’s stand since its inception in 2007 that every child is precious.

Today Permata programmes have expanded to seven main sectors – Permata Negara, Permata Pintar, Permata Seni, Permata Insan, Perkasa Remaja, Permata Kurnia and Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak Permata.

The inaugural conference will cover all seven Permata sectors that provide nurturing and early education and development for children. There will be 48 speakers, including 15 speakers with an expertise in numerous fields.

“So far 986 participants have registered for the conference, mostly from within the country. We are hoping to see at least 200 foreign participants with the total number of participants targeted between 1200 and 1500,” she said.

During the conference an exhibition will also be held to highlight the unique attributes of the Permata programme.

“I believe every child is endowed with high level of intellectuality, and each one has the ability to master some skills if provided with the right platform,” she said at the Pre Launch of the Permata International Conference 2016 here, on Thursday.

All efforts and successes achieved by Permata through the programmes will be shared for the children’s education and growth development.

Renowned foreign experts like Prof Francoys Gagne from Canada, Prof Edward Melhuish from England, Prof Dr Siti Chairani Proehoeman from Indonesia, and Dr Lamarr Darnell Shields, Prof Dr Pamela Wolfberg, Dr Andy Shih all from the United States and Anthony Lloyd Sparnon from Australia will provide invaluable inputs.

“We are also inviting 42 first ladies of the world. So far four of them have confirmed their attendance, including from Nigeria, Gambia and Albania.

“We are waiting for the rest to reply. Their presence will further boost the event’s standing and they can highlight their experiences in implementing programmes to help children in their respective countries,” he said.


According to Rosmah, the conference would also serve as the conduit for all the seven Permata sectors to share initiatives and ensure each of the sector achieved its objectives.

The conference will be officiated by Rosmah’s husband, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Permata has come a long way, like pointed out by Rosmah. The initial scepticism has now turned into trust on Permata.

Now, ask anyone and they would prefer to send they four year olds to Permata centres, she pointed out.

In so far there is about 750 Permata Centres throughout the nation, especially in the rural areas, that provide access to early education of quality.

Apart from that, the online application for Permata Pintar and Permata Insan has seen good response with 250,000 applications annually.

Permata Seni, Permata Kurnia, Perkasa Remaja that are only available at the Klang Valley at present and will be extended based on demand and the availability of financial resources. – BERNAMA
