KUALA LUMPUR – The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah presented prizes at the handicraft contest and exhibition of the Malaysian Armed Forces Welfare Body (Bakat) at Wisma Perwira ATM, here today.
Hajah Haminah arrived at about 2.40pm and was greeted by Bakat’s top leaders before visiting the handicraft exhibition in the grounds of Dewan Perkasa.
She then attended a banquet and was entertained with songs and dances by Bakat members.
Also present were Bakat chairman, Puan Sri Umi Kalsom Wan Awang, Police Family Association (Perkep) chairman, Puan Sri Imran Ibrahim and Association of Wives and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita/Ministry of Defence) chairman, Datin Seri Zahrah Che Hussain.
The Raja Permaisuri Agong spent two hours before departing at 4.40pm.
A total of 48 Bakat members participated in the contest organised by Bakat Laut, which consists of two categories, exhibition and spontaneous.
Bakat chairman Umi Kalsom said the event was part of efforts to nurture the spirit of friendship and cooperation among members.
“The participants showed their real talent in developing the economy as the handcrafts are of good quality and can be commercialised,” she added.
It also shows Bakat’s readiness to care for the welfare of its members. – BERNAMA
