SATUN (THAILAND) – The Ramadan Mahabbah Programme of the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has reached out to asnaf (tithe recipient) group across the border and help to strengthen relations between Perlis and Southern Thailand.
Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Nor said the Raja Muda was very committed to ensure the success of the programme each year by visiting the Muslim communities at selected places in provinces on the Andaman coast in Southern Thailand.
“There are six provinces on the Andaman coast namely Krabi, Ranong, Phuket, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun. For the fourth year programme, we choose to visit the asnaf group in Satun as well as to interact with the people and learn the local culture there.
“The programme demonstrates the care of the Raja Muda was not only limited to local residents but also to the people in neighbouring countries,” he said while accompanying Tuanku Syed Faizuddin in the programme here last night.
He said in conjunction with the visit, the Raja Muda and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil also took time to mingle with the villagers of Kampung Che Bilang as well as Pondok Mamba’ul Ulum before completing the programme with terawih prayers with the residents in Darul Makwa Mosque there.
Mohd Nazim said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who is also MAIPs president also presented contributions to 119 asnaf including orphans, and handed over RM5,000 as financial assistance to restore Mahmudiah Mosque in Kampung Che Bilang. – BERNAMA
