ZURICH – The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, visited the headquarters of FIFA, the international federation of football associations, here Friday.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin was greeted upon arrival at the FIFA headquarters by FIFA deputy chief of corporate communications and public relations Alexander Koch.
The Raja Muda was accompanied by his daughter Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs and alumni) Prof Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan.
Koch briefed the Raja Muda on the FIFA administration and operation and took the visitors on a tour of the offices and facilities, including a surau for Muslim guests.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is UniMAP chancellor, is leading a UniMAP delegation on an educational tour of Switzerland.
FIFA, established in 1904, has 209 football associations from around the world as its members.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is a football fan, had lived in Zurich for four years up to 2002 when he served as the Malaysia Airlines regional manager for Switzerland, Austria and Central Europe.
He had visited the FIFA headquarters before.
Meanwhile, the Raja Muda and Sharifah Farah Adriana, accompanied by the Malaysian honorary consul in Basel, Datuk Jeffery Sandragesan, watched a Champions League group match between FC Basel and Real Madrid at the St Jakob Stadium in Basel on Wednesday.
Real Madrid won the match 1-0, with the goal scored by Cristiano Ronaldo. – BERNAMA
