ARAU – The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail has urged Muslims to reject terrorism that is spreading and involving militant groups and are linked to the Islamic religion.
The Raja Muda said the involvement of Muslims in the activities of such groups would only worsen the public perception on Islam particularly in the Arab world.
“Every Muslim must avoid from being easily influenced by allegations especially on the issue of terrorism in the name of ‘jihad fisabilillah’ (holy war) which tarnishes the jihad concept itself,” he said when opening a seminar on Islamic thinking and current issues faced by the Muslim nations organised by the Perlis Council on Islamic Religion and Malay Customs (MAIPs) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Perlis, here today.
Muslims should fight against basic issues such as excessive desire, vice, drug abuse, moral decay, poverty, and so on, he said.
More than 600 religious and community leaders throughout the state as well as representatives of government departments and agencies, Perlis UiTM students and lecturers attended the one-day seminar. – BERNAMA
