IPOH – Perak who managed to pull off a memorable comeback after facing the exit door against Pahang, will not be intimidated by the might or track record of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) when both face off in the semifinals of the Malaysia Cup on Oct 14.
Perak who lost the first leg 1-3 at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, turned the tables on Pahang with a 4-0 victory at home to advance with a 5-3 aggregate score, although many had written off their chances.
Perak Football Association (PAFA) President Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan said though JDT are not just any other team due to their impressive track record, Perak have their own strength and have managed to beat the Johor side a number of times before.
“Based on our head-to-head record with JDT, it is still 50-50. Perak has beaten JDT in Ipoh and we have also held our fort against them in Johor. If the players maintain the momentum and mood the prevailed during the second leg quarterfinal against Pahang, there is no reason whay we cannot make it to the final,”he told reporters after opening the PAFA Annual General Meeting (AGM) here today.
He said apart from PAFA, Perak fans and supporters are also hoping for the Silver state to make it to the final after a 10-year lapse.
