IPOH – Four customers of an entertainment outlet were detained after they tried to attack police officers during an operation dubbed Ops Noda early this morning.
Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Yahya Abd Rahman said the four men, in their 30s and 40s, tried to hit the officers with stools.
“We will open investigation papers under Section 186 of the Penal Code against these four men for obstructing civil servants in discharging their duties.
“They should not have acted that way. We will investigate if they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” he said when met at the Perak police contingent headquarters (IPK) here today.
Elaborating on the operation conducted by the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Gangsterism Division here, Yahya said the first raid was on a budget hotel in Jalan C.M Yusuff.
“Twelve prostitutes, two caretakers and five customers comprising a local, an Indonesian and three Nepalese men were detained.
“The next raid was at Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakhri where police detained two caretakers including a woman, eight Vietnamese guest relation officers and 19 local customers,” he said.
He said police also seized cash amounting to RM6,654 and other items including condoms and a log book on liquor sales
According to Yahya, investigations would be made under Section 55 (B) of the Immigration Act 1953; Section 39 (B) of the Immigration Act 1963; Sections 373, 372B and 186 of the Penal Code. – BERNAMA
