SUNGAI SIPUT – Perak will continue to monitor the Gunung Korbu forest reserve in Perlop near here against further incidents of fire.
State Fire and Rescue Department, Zone One chief Ruhisha Harris said firefighters managed to control a fire that broke out yesterday on 1.6 hectares at the forest.
“The department received a call at 4.37 pm and dispatched 16 personnel from the Sungai Siput Fire Station to the site,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.
Ruhisha said 10 Forestry Department personnel and seven oil palm plantation workers assisted in the operation to control the blaze by 6 pm.
He said the fire might have spread from the neighbouring area. – BERNAMA
