JOHOR BAHRU – The opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s decision to use one logo or symbol in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14) is not an important matter for the people.
On the contrary, the people would be more concerned about the achievement of the manifesto promised by the political parties they voted for in the previous general election, said Johor Bahru Member of Parliament Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad.
He said the Barisan Nasional (BN) had succeeded in fulfilling most of the manifestos promised in the last election.
“For the upcoming election, we will all be evaluated in terms of our achievement in fulfilling our promises in the previous election (GE13) as well as the GE12.
“Hence, even if the name (logo) changes, it’s more or less the same people. Besides, they (the opposition) already have two states under their administration. Of course the people can evaluate,” he told reporters after the BR1M voucher presentation ceremony for the Johor Bahru Parliamentary constituency at the Johor Bahru Member of Parliament service centre here today.
Shahrir said this when commenting on the outcome of the PH presidential council meeting on Tuesday that unanimously decided that the coalition’s four member parties to contest using one logo or symbol in the GE14.
The decision to use one logo was reached following the Registrar of Societies (RoS)’ failing to response, until now, to the PH’s application to register the coalition.
Earlier, a total of 1,300 residents from around Johor Bahru received their BR1M vouchers. – BERNAMA
