MELAKA – Pemuda Umno will define two pressing issues, the petroleum royalty, and goods and services tax (GST) in its Pengkalan Kubor by-election campaign in Kelantan.
Its chief Khairy Jamaluddin said the issues needed to be explained to the voters in the constituency, to counter any confusion that the opposition was trying to plant.
“These issues are being played up in Kelantan to draw support, so much so, that some of the people thought that the GST is a new tax that will result in price increase.
“And some of them really believed that the federal government had not paid petroleum royalty to Kelantan,” he told reporters after participating in the Fit Malaysia programme at Dataran Pahlawan here today.
The by-election following the death of assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20, will see a three-corner fight involving Mat Razi Mat Ail from Barisan Nasional, Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim from Pas and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
Khairy said Pemuda Umno’s campaign will be organised in small groups to convey the message more effectively. – BERNAMA
