KUALA LUMPUR – Two late goals by their import players help Penang pull a 2-1 win over Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) in a Premier League match at City Stadium in Penang last night.
With the win, the island state dislodged Sabah at the top of the table and extended their unbeaten run to six games.
Despite being down by a goal in the second minute by former national striker, Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak, Penang made a strong comeback with goals by Hilton Moreira and Alberto Goncalves in injury time.
Terengganu club, T-Team were also victorious in a dramatic 4-3 win over Sabah at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
The four goals of ‘The Titans’ were scored by Farhod Tadjiev in the eighth and 45th minute, an own goal by Sabah’s Alto Linus and Sadriddin Abdullaev in injury time in the second half.
The three goals of Sabah Rhinos were contributed by their Australian import striker Joel Joseph Chianese in the fifth and 16th minute and Eamon Zayed in the 63rd minute.
At Stadium Darul Makmur, Pahang club, Kuantan FA which were the 2014 FAM League champions, celebrated their first win this season with a 2-1 win over DRB Hicom FC.
However, Kuantan FA were down by a Ahmad Aminuddin Shaharudin goal as early as the 12th minute before their import forward from Montenegro, Milan Purovic blasted two goals for the host in the 39th and 84th minute.
Also collecting three points were club side UiTM FC which chalked a comfortable 3-1 win over bottom table, SPA Putrajaya FC at UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam.
Kuala Lumpur, despite playing at their favourite venue in Stadium Merdeka, failed to turn the tide when they were beaten by a solitary goal by Kedah’s Chidi Edeh in the 24th minute.
In another match, Selangor PKNS FC and Negeri Sembilan shared one point each after drawing 1-1 at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium in Kelana Jaya.
