GEORGE TOWN – Penang Gerakan’s internal crisis has been resolved amicably, said
its chairman Teng Chang Yeow.
Teng, who is also the state Barisan Nasional chairman, said the matter had
been resolves following a meeting with party president Datuk Seri Mah Siew
Keong last Thursday.
“We had a three-hour meeting last Thursday to discuss the matter and
after the meeting, we considered the problem resolved,” he said during his
opening speech for the state Youth and Woman annual delegates conference at
the Penang Gerakan headquarters here yesterday.
However, Teng, who declined to reveal the contents of the meeting, said Mah
will make a proper announcement on the matter soon.
Last month, the party deputy secretary-general, Dr Thor Teong Gee announced
his resignation from all party posts after claiming his reputation
was smeared following an internal strife for the Sungai Pinang division
coordinator post, as well as being candidate for the coming general
Following that, Penang Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong had denied he
wanted to take over the Sungai Pinang division coordinator post and had no
intention to undermine Dr Thor’s reputation.
