Malaysia is full of funny people…and funny politicians. In light of the tragic incident occurred yesterday, where  Muhammad Zulhazriq Danish Alden accidentally plunged to his death after falling from the sixth floor of a Public Housing Project (PPR) building, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan told the press today that residents should take rent payments seriously as it enables for better maintenance. Which loosely means safety in this country is spelled with M.O.N.E.Y. In a statement made during the Global Leader Experiences (GLE) Programme at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Abdul Rahman said,”I am saddened by this incident as it shouldn’t have happened. PPR residents should take maintenance seriously and one way to do this is to take their rentals seriously. If they do not pay rents, there won’t be enough funds for maintenance.” He said that he has urged the National Housing Department to also take the matter of unpaid rents seriously. He added that the government has helped the people by providing low-cost housing units therefore they should do their part to make the places liveable. “Not only maintenance but overall cleanliness and safety are of utmost importance to make sure that PPRs don’t turn into slums,” he said. It was believed that Zulhazriq fell while playing at the corridor at 3.18pm. The victim, however, was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the hospital.MYNEWSHUB.CC
