KOTA BAHARU: The PAS national headquarters is to hold a meeting on Saturday to discuss the displinary action to be taken against party members who have joined the Gerakan Harapan Baharu (GHB) NGO.
PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said today the party top leadership had received reports from every state liaison committee on the participation of PAS members in the GHB or New Hope Movement.
“We have accumulated the information from the states. All the states sent detailed reports on the GHB,” he told reporters after attending the convocation of the Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic College (KIAS) at Balai Islam Lundang here.
Replying to a question, Mohd Amar, who is the Kelantan deputy menteri besar, said the influence of the GHB in the state had not reached a serious stage.
Penang GHB interim committee chairman Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa has been quoted as saying that the GHB planned to take over the Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (KITA) and relaunch the party on Aug 31 while GHB interim committee member Khalid Samad reportedly said that a new party would be set up on Sept 14.
In KUALA TERENGGANU, Kuala Terengganu PAS has asked Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad to make an open apology to PAS members and his constituents and declare his severing of ties with GHB within 14 days.
Its chief, Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah, said if he failed to do that, then he should resign as the MP immediately.
The decision of Kuala Terengganu PAS to sever ties with the MP would only be rescinded if he apologised and cut ties with GHB, he said in a statement.
Last Sunday, Raja Kamarul Bahrin had stated that he was still a PAS member and that he was considering whether to accept or reject a post in GHB. He also said that GHB was only an NGO and his attending any of its functions did not indicate a clash with PAS.
