KUALA LUMPUR – PAS will submit the names of its nominees for the position of the Selangor mentri besar to the Sultan of Selangor on Wednesday.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said the two nominees for the position are none other than PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and deputy president Azmin Ali.
Asked by theSun if the party would be proposing more names as decreed by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, he said: “We will be submitting only two names.”
He said a PAS representative will submit the names, endorsed and signed by party president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang, to the palace.
This, he added, is in line with the decision taken by the PAS central committee on Aug 17.
While PAS intends to submit two names, PKR and DAP will submit only one name – that of Wan Azizah – to the palace.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and DAP publicity-secretary Tony Pua were quoted as saying that the sole nomination was made in line with the convention practised in the past.
DAP is expected to submit the name to the palace tomorrow while PKR remains silent on the matter.
Selangor PAS, at its 26th Dewan Ulama meeting yesterday, unanimously passed a motion to denounce the signing a statutory declaration by two PAS assemblymen in supporting Wan Azizah’s candidacy as mentri besar to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
According to the latest Selangor PAS Dewan Ulama Facebook entry, the motion will be submitted to the PAS disciplinary committee for action to be taken against Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin. – The Sun
