PAS Drops Three State Commissioners As It Gears Up For GE14

KUALA LUMPUR – PAS has dropped three state commissioners and replaced with new faces as the party gears up for the 14th General Election (GE14), said secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.

Sabak State Assemblyman Sallehen Mukhyi was appointed as Selangor PAS commissioner, replacing State Executive Councillor and Chempaka State Assemblyman, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.

On the east coast, former Terengganu state assembly speaker Datuk Husin Awang was appointed as Terengganu PAS commissioner, replacing Paka State Assemblyman Saiful Bahri Mamat.

Down south, Puteri Wangsa State Assemblyman Abdullah Hussin was appointed as Johor PAS commissioner, replacing Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed, the head of PAS Ulama Council.

Asked about the removal of PAS vice-president Datuk Iskandar as Selangor PAS commissioner, Takiyuddin said it had nothing to do with issues involving the leadership of the state.

“Actually, Iskandar has been promoted and given the task of monitoring the party’s machinery in the central and south zones (Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor ).

“He is also the chairman of the planned Selangor PAS Complex,” he told the media at the PAS headquarters, here Saturday.

Takiyuddin, who is also Kota Bharu Member of Parliament said the appointment of Sallehan as Selangor PAS commissioner was a normal exercise to enhance Selangor PAS.

Deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was given the foreign affairs and welfare portfolios while vice-presidents Idris Ahmad and Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah were given the job of looking after several states.

Idris will take care of the northern states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak while Datuk Mohd Amar will look after Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.

Datuk Mustafa Ali was dropped as Pas Central Working Committee member and PAS election director-general and appointed as advisor to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He was replaced by Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the political secretary to Abdul Hadi.
