KUALA LUMPUR: The citizen’s declaration is not the proper method to oust a prime minister, says PAS.
Its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the party supported the idea of opposing Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, but not by way of a declaration.
“Our stand is very clear. We are not part of the pact and we have our own views that we will submit to the relevant parties.
“As an Opposition party, we are for ousting Datuk Seri Najib but not through that method or mode.
“We believe that there are many ways and means to change or improve the whole system of government, not just one person,†he said in Parliament on Monday.
On PAS election commissioner Datuk Mustafa Ali being present at the signing of the declaration last Friday, Takiyuddin said Mustafa did not represent the party.
“Neither Mustafa, nor anyone from PAS who was present there, was representing the party,†he said, adding that PAS had no plans to work with former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the moment.
He noted further that there were other means to instigate change besides waiting for a general election.
“We are not necessarily waiting for the elections. We believe in the process of parliamentary democracy.
“There are steps like motions raised in parliament. Like a motion of no confidence. That is part of the process,†he said.
