SHAH ALAM: The triumphant Malaysian paralympians have opened more doors to disabled persons in the country, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
Their success at the Rio Paralympics was an inspiration to all Malaysians, said the Youth and Sports Minister.
“I hope their achievements would inspire other sectors in giving opportunities to those who are disabled.
“When you give the disabled community the opportunity to succeed, like how it’s done in sports, they can make the country proud,” he said at an appreciation ceremony held by Proton and DRB-Hicom for the Olympians.
Malaysia has won three gold medals at the Rio Paralympics so far through sprinter Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi, shot putter Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli and long jumper Abdul Latif Romly.
Khairy said the paralympians’ accomplishments had left a huge impact on public perception towards the disabled.
