KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia admits that he had planned to resign from his post but withdrew his resignation after a March 19 meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“The Prime Minister did not accept my letter of resignation when I met him on Mar 19, let alone read it. He asked me for my reasons and I spoke to him,†said Pandikar.
He said at a press conference at his official residence here Tuesday that former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was not lying when he said Pandikar had met with him.
Pandikar said the meeting with Mahathir took place on Mar 13.
“I did not lie about planning to resign having brought a letter to the Prime Minister. But the discussion I had with the Prime Minister was very productive for the nation,†said Pandikar.
He added that he had wanted to resign over policy matters, not about issues of furniture as had been rumoured.-The Star
