PETALING JAYA – Pakatan Harapan will not be cooperating with PAS in the upcoming 14th General Election.

Following a three-hour-long meeting of Pakatan’s presidential council on Monday night, the Opposition coalition issued a statement that it would be breaking ties with PAS.

“Pakatan Harapan will not cooperate with PAS in the 14th General Election (GE14).

“Pakatan Harapan is preparing its strategy for the possibility of three-cornered contests in GE14,” read the brief statement, which was issued in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Pakatan Harapan is made up of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, DAP, PKR and Amanah.

PAS had previously worked with PKR and DAP in the last two general elections, making up the Pakatan Rakyat pact that disbanded in 2015.

Pakatan Harapan leaders exiting the meeting were tight-lipped about the specifics of the announcement and refused to comment further on the matter.

“We had a good discussion and we resolved the problem of the appointment of leaders and a few other things,” said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. – The Star Online
