KUALA LUMPUR – Pahang have regained the lead in the Super League from Kedah after a narrow 2-1 win over Kelantan at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu tonight.
Even though Pahang and Kedah were tied with 19 points each after nine matches so far, Pahang have better goal difference.
In the action in Kota Bharu, Kelantan import striker Mohamad Ghaddar put the hosts in the lead in the 16th minute before Pahang bounced back in the second half via Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria in the 60th minute and Matheus Alves Leandro, two minutes later.
Meanwhile, Kedah failed to continue their winning trend on homeground after a 1-1 draw with PKNS FC at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar.
In fact the Red Eagles were stunned in the 28th minute when PKNS FC’s Lucas Sebastian Espindola opened the scoring before Zachary Michael equalised six minutes later.
Selangor climbed two ranks to the third spot in the league after a slim 2-1 win over Sarawak at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.
The Red Giants went ahead with a 2-0 lead via Victor Astafei in the 22nd minutes and Francis Forkey Doe in the 49th minute before Mateo Roskam pulled one back for Sarawak in the 83rd minute.
Meantime, Perak failed to capitalise on their homeground advantage after being held to a 2-2 draw at Perak Stadium in Ipoh.
Perak’s two goals were netted by Yashir Pinto in the 12th minute and a penalty kick by Abdul Hadi Yahya in the second half injury time while the visitors’ goals were contributed by Dilshod Sharofetdinov in the 48th minute and Muhammad Fakhrurazi Musa in the 71st minute. – BERNAMA
