Pahang Beat Armed Forces 2-0 To Maintain Top Spot

KUALA LUMPUR – Super League leader Pahang continued their winning ways and reign at the top after a 2-0 win over Armed Forces at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, tonight.

Pahang who have 39 points from 12 wins in 17 matches, have a two point lead over Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), who have also played the same number of matches.

JDT whipped Sime Darby FC 4-0 to keep pace with Pahang.

In tonight’s match, Pahang’s Nigerian import Dickson Nwakaeme scored a brace in the 17th and 35th minutes to ensure all three points for his team while JDT’s Luciano Figueroa from Argentina also struck a brace in his team’s win, scoring in the (31st and 68th min) while Asraruddin Putra Omar (45th min) and Safiq Rahim (49th min) added one each at the Larkin Stadium in Johor.

Selangor moved into fourth spot after a 1-1 draw against Sarawak at the State Stadium in Kuching with Indonesian import Andik Vermansah scoring for Selangor in the 39th minute and Patrick Gerhardt nailing Sarawak’s equaliser in the 75th minute.

Terengganu who defeated Lions XII from Singapore 4-2 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Terengganu, moved into sixth spot.

Mohd Helmi Remeli gave Terengganu the lead in the 10th minute before Issey Nakajima-Farran struck a brace in the 26th and 51st minutes while Norshahrul Idlan completed the victory in the 56th minute.

Lions XII had to thank Madhu Mohana and Muhammad Hafiz Abu Sujad for the two goals which came in the 24th and 54th minutes.

At the Shah Alam Stadium, high riding Perak were shot down by Police but Perak maintained third spot in the league table behind Pahang and JDT.

The Cops who took a 3-0 lead through Ali Ashfaq (10th and 68th minutes) and Dramane Traore (59th min) allowed Perak to stage a late rally and score two goals in the dying minutes of the match through imports Thiago Aquino and Horace James.

At the Selayang Stadium, Felda United FC and Kelantan shared the spoils in a goalless draw. – BERNAMA
