IPOH – Motorists travelling north along the North-South Expressway were caught in an eight-hour traffic crawl caused by an overturned trailer near Tapah.
In the 6.30am incident yesterday, the trailer transporting wooden pallets spun of control near the 324.2km and came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the highway.
Tapah OCPD Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said the 27-year-old driver from Taman Selayang Segar, Batu Caves, lost control of his vehicle which skidded to the left side of the expressway.
“He rammed into the barrier before the vehicle overturned on the right lane of the expressway,” he said.
“The accident caused an eight-hour jam before the trailer was finally removed from the site at about 2.30pm.”
Police recorded the driver’s statement and carried out a urine test.
The case will be investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving. – The Star Online
