CARACAS – The head of the Strategic Integral Defense Region (REDI), Sergio Rivero, has today confirmed that over 400 people linked to violent acts were arrested from April 19 to date in the northern part of the Anzoategui.
Rivero said that these people were seized hitting objects of any kind, including a water-supplying tube through which fireworks with nails were placed, in order to injure the Bolivarian National Guard ( GNB) guaranteeing the order restoration during the demonstrations.
He also explained that in the last 24 hours 17 citizens were arrested in this northeastern region of the country, and among them are three other arrested in the municipality Diego Bautista Urbaneja, serving as logistical support for violent groups related to right-wing parties.
Sergio Rivero stressed that some officials of the Municipal Police of Urbaneja are the collaborators to the protesters, as they receive orders from the mayor, Gustavo Marcano, regional coordinator of the Primero Justicia opposition right-wing party.
‘We have some information that police staff escorted a truck that poured sand and stones on the main avenue of Lecheria on Wednesday to block up traffic,’ Rivero said. -BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA
