KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 4,616 traffic offenders with outstanding arrest warrants have surrendered themselves to the police since the Ops Warta to nab them was launched last Tuesday.
According to the Bukit Aman Traffic Branch, of the total, Selangor recorded the highest number with 1,185, followed by Johor (883).
During the same period, 1,009 more offenders were arrested for failing to settle their summonses.
Of these, 288 people were charged while 721 were given bail.
Ops Warta was launched to detect traffic offenders with arrest warrants.
The Police had earlier announced that they would be firm in carrying out operations to detect individuals who had arrest warrants for traffic offences. – BERNAMA
