PETALING JAYA – Operations to combat illegal forest and land clearing in Cameron Highlands will resume tomorrow after being halted since last year.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said the operations would involve the relevant agencies, including the Forestry Department, district offices and Land and Mine Department as well as the police.
“This issue (illegal exploration) is expected to be resolved at least within three months,” he told reporters at the Maritime Enforcement Agency Air Station in Subang, near here Monday.
Without disclosing the number of personnel involved in the operation, he said the agencies involved would conduct monitoring activities in three shifts in the area concerned.
“The illegally built agricultural premises there (Cameron Highlands) will be demolished and used for replanting trees (nursery) to be regulated by the relevant agencies,” he said. – BERNAMA
