KOTA KINABALU – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the opposition had never been consistent in their stand and struggle, besides constantly casting aspersions and baseless accusations against the government.
Najib said the inconsistency was evident when the opposition, which had previously rejected the Goods and Services Tax (GST), seemed to have recognised the implementation of the new taxation system by listing it as part of their Alternative Budget.
“The opposition have never been consistent. All this while (they) condemned the GST, but in their Alternative Budget they touched on GST. They play politics on (the GST rate of) three per cent, but online, they say zero per cent; it doesn’t make any sense”, he said, when opening the triennial conference of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), here, today.
Najib also questioned the opposition’s move to impose zero per cent GST, but then introduce GST in their budget.
“Why you have GST, but zero per cent? The people must think, that this is a political game,” he said.
Apart from that, he said, the opposition also lied when they accused Barisan Nasional (BN) of bringing in about 40,000 voters from Bangladesh in the last general election, which until today, had not been proven by them.
Najib said the allegation that he would negotiate with the military to seize power if BN lost the 13th General Election was also proven false, when the opposition leader concerned made an open apology to him on the matter. – BERNAMA
