KUALA LUMPUR – A minister said today opposition claims of Parliament deliberately concealing evidence on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue are baseless.
Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, said their claims that not even one question on 1MDB was answered were inaccurate because there were four questions on 1MDB, from the MPs for Petaling Jaya Utara, Kelana Jaya, Seremban and Segambut in the order paper.
“Unlisted questions may be associated with the courts and subjudice or contrary to the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders,” she said in a statement.
Azalina said the opposition action of blowing up the issue showed that they lacked issues to raise in Parliament and added that they should focus on their constituents’ problems and not recycle old issues.
“I hope that all MPs will take advantage of the ongoing 12-day sitting and abide by the Standing Orders,” she said.
During Question Time in the house, there was a moment of heated exchange of words when several opposition MPs questioned the decision of Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to reject questions pertaining to 1MDB.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said cited the factor of subjudice for the rejection of the questions. – BERNAMA
