SEREMBAN – It only takes seven months for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) members to start losing their confidence in the party leadership led by former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, says Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
He said after passionately denounced UMNO as a party of cronies and one which was corrupt, the PPBM members were now condemning the very people they called their leaders, who also accused them of practising cronyism.
“Once a squirrel, always a squirrel. If they can’t get the fruit, they will just jump onto another tree.”
Mohamad said this to reporters here today in response to the action taken by 500 PPBM members from Rembau led by the its state chief activist Mohd Anas Sudin in quitting the party with immediate effect last night.
Mohd Anas claimed that among the reasons for them to do so was because PPBM practised cronyism and they were dissatisfied with the leadership of Muhyiddin and deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, besides the fact the appointed party committee members were still UMNO members, and that the party’s objectives and direction were unclear.
“I wish him (Mohd Anas) all the best,” said Mohamad, who is also Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman.
On Mohd Anas’ claim that another 1,500 PPBM members would follow suit and quit the party soon, Mohamad thanked the latter for carrying out the task of cleaning up the opposition parties in the state.
“Now, I don’t need to work so hard in that area, do I? This has indeed reduced my burden to combat opposition parties and their activities in the state. Well done, Anas,” he quipped. – BERNAMA
