JAKARTA: Metro Jakarta Police Women and Children Crime Investigation team uncovered an online underaged teen prostitution syndicate that is active in a condominium in Kalibata, south Jakarta.
A local daily Koran Tempo quoted Metro Jaya Police Crime Investigation Department director Heru Pranoto as saying the police arrested a man believed to be the pimp and freed six teenage girls who were prostitutes there.
He said police also seized several evidence, including access cards to the condominium and mobile telephones belonging to the suspect allegedly to offer online prostitution services.
â€œThe online prostitution syndicate is believed to have operated since six months ago and police is still conducting further investigation including several websites and Twitter and Facebook social sites,â€ he said.
He said investigation revealed the teenage girls were aged between 14-19. â€œOne of the victims were found to be six months pregnant but the teenager was forced to entertain up to three customers daily, said Heru.
Meanwhile the daily also reported that all the six victims were currently being given social protection to help investigation.
Acitivities relating to the online prostitution service grabbed the nationâ€™s attention following the case of a young women involved in the vice, who was killed by a customer in a room she rented in south Jakarta recently. â€“ BERNAMA
