SUBANG JAYA – The special CID task force investigating the abduction of DPP Anthony Kevin Morais came upon a major lead early Wednesday.
It is learnt an oil drum filled with cement said to contain a body was found in a swamp area opposite SK Chee Wen in USJ 1 in Subang Jaya. Fire and Rescue Department staff are now trying to cut open the drum.
Sources revealed that the task force has been probing the area since 6am Wednesday.
At the scene were Selangor CID chief SAC Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah, City CID chief SAC Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad, KL police chief Comm Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa and Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Yahaya Ramli.
Fire and Rescue Department personnel were seen using a forklift to carry the drum away from the swamp for further investigations to be carried out.
It is learnt that Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh will be issuing a statement on the matter soon.
Morais went missing after leaving his residence in Menara Duta, here, on Sept 4 for work in Putrajaya in a grey Proton Perdana bearing the registration plate WA6264Q.
It was reported that at least four suspects followed him in another car through heavy traffic while he was on his way to work before nabbing him in Bangsar.
The suspects reportedly approached Kevin in his car and forced him out before dragging him into their vehicle. This apparently happened in full view of other motorists in the morning rush hour.
