KUALA LUMPUR – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait’s capital, yesterday.
OIC secretary-general Iyad Ameen Madani in a statement said the attack did not only cause the death and injury of many innocent worshippers, but also targeted the security and stability of Kuwait and its society.
He said the terrorist group that committed the evil act was simply a gang of criminals who put no value to human life, and are devoid of any values, morality and religious beliefs, and aim at defaming Islam and Muslims.
International reports stated that a deadly blast ripped through the mosque after Friday prayers today killing at least 25 people and injured many others.
In the statement, Madani expressed OIC’s solidarity with Kuwait’s leadership, government and people.
He also conveyed his condolences to the Emir of Kuwait, the government of Kuwait and the families of the victims as well as his wishes for the quick recovery of the injured.
Madani reiterated OIC’s firm and principled stand that condemns terrorism in all forms and manifestations, stressing on the need for the consolidated efforts of all the member states to extract this malaise based on the resolution issued by the OIC in this regard.
