NILAI – National paralympic women’s track cycling athlete, Nur Azlia Syafinaz Mohd Zais is in a league of her own after she made a clean sweep of gold medals in all events she participated with her pilot, Noraidilina Adilla J. Sam, at the Asian Track Cycling Championship (ATC) 2018.
Nur Azlia maintained her winning streak with the fastest time of one minute 15.177 seconds in the women’s 500m individual B time trial which took place at the National Velodrome here today.
The pair defeated their teammates, Nur Syahida Tajudin-Nurul Suhada Zainal, who clinched silver with 1:19.024s while Singapore’s Emily Lee-Sarah Tan came second runner-up with 1:22.317s.
“Alhamdullilah (praise be to Allah), we won all the events. We also broke personal records. However, we cannot become complacent as we need a more competitive tournament. Our target is the World Championship in Brazil. We hope that this success will get us there.
“In fact, we are also targeting medals at the Para Asian Games in Indonesia this year. I hope that my pilot stays,” she said.
Prior to her achievement today, Nur Azlia had dominated the women’s B individual sprint event and women’s B individual pursuit event.
Meanwhile, Malaysia also dominated the podium for the men’s 1km individual B time trial through the duo of Aiman Asyraff Ahmad Bajuri-Mohd Faizal Mohamed Noh, who clocked their fastest time of 1:04.480s.
